Wauton Samuel Upgrade (WSUPG) - Release; 5.0.0
What is WSUPG?
WS UPG is a new application that has been released by Wauton Samuel to help our
clients quickly upgrade Pasapp. The application has been developed after surveys
with clients highlighted the fact that clients wanted a more simplistic method to
upgrade Pasapp in the school. Currently the application is optional and supplied
free of charge to all clients that hold a current licence, we are in the process
of making appointments with schools to install WSUPG but due to demand this will
take time. If you prefer not to wait you can follow the instructions below to install
it in your school.

System Requirements;
- Microsoft Windows 2000 SP4/ XP SP2 / Server 2000 SP4/ Server 2003
- Microsoft Internet Explorer 6 or Higher
- Windows Installer 3.1 or Higher
- Microsoft .Net Framework 2.0 or Higher
- Microsoft Data Access Components 2.8 or Higher
- Wauton Samuel PASAPP application.
Service Pack Downloads;
* .Net framework 2.0 and MDAC 2.8 both install from the WSUPG installation CD
if not detected on your operating system.
Installation Instructions;
There are two methods of installing WSUPG. We can provide a CD for you that will
contain the file required to be installed on every machine otherwise you are able
to download the WSUPG installation file from step 1 on our website.

CD OPTION:
Insert the CD into the drive and wait 5-10 seconds for the auto launch to start.
DOWNLOAD OPTION:
If you would rather download the installation you can download it from the following:

- If you have a CD move to step 3. otherwise if you have downloaded the WSUPG installation
program then extract the files to a folder and click on setup.exe to begin the installation.
- If you require MDAC or .Net to be installed you will prompted to do so. Please note
you cannot install WSUPG without these components being present.
- When you see the welcome screen click ‘Next’
- You will then see the options screen. You may change these values if you wish but
it would be best to leave the default values as they are. Once you are happy with
the options click ‘Next’.
- Click ‘Next’ to continue and install WSUPG
- Wait for the installation to complete installing WSUPG. Once completed click ‘Close’.
- To test the installation of WSUPG and the automatic upgrade function, please log
into PASAPP.
- From the main menu click on Housekeeping then System Functions and then Get New
Version.
- PASAPP should close and WSUPG should launch.
- WSUPG has the ability to update it self, therefore the first thing it will do is
check for new versions of itself. If one is available it will download its update.
The process will then unzip the upgrade files, update the database and then copy
new files to the location of the data.
- After the upgrade has completed, WSUPG will report any errors it has found during
the upgrade. Please contact Wauton Samuel if you receive any errors.
- WSUPG will then launch PASAPP
Client Machines (all other computers on the network that use PASAPP)
- On each of your client machines PASAPP should detect a new version has been installed
and will want to update itself to the upgraded version. When prompted, Click ‘Yes’
to copy the new version from the server.
- PASAPP will close and WSUPG will launch again. This time it will get the updated
application from the server and copy them to the client machine.
- Once WSUPG has finished copying, launch PASAPP and check the version number to make
sure it has upgraded.
The WSUPG application which is on the CD or has been downloaded from our website
needs to be installed on every client machine that uses PASAPP in order for the
upgrade process to be completely successful.
If you are using WSUPG 5.0.0 and are upgrading to Pasapp 2.0.0, you will need to run
this application on each machine.
Do Not run this application if you are not using WSUPG 5.0.0
