1)
From
the computer desktop click Start. Go up
to Programs and find your
Internet Explorer™, this is
usually represented by a blue E icon. You may also have a shortcut to your
Internet Explorer™ on your computers desktop.
2)
Once
your web browser has loaded in the address bar type;
http://www.wautonsamuel.co.uk.
This will take you to Wauton Samuel’s Homepage on the Internet.

3)
When
the homepage has loaded you can then proceed to the download section of the
website by clicking the link “software downloads”. You can choose between
various upgrade downloads, PASAPP, DINATT and the Finance Module.
Be careful when choosing the file you require. You do not want to waste time
downloading the wrong file, or one which is the same as you already have.

4)
When
you have selected the file you require you will get a dialogue box pop up which
asks you for a user name and password.

You should have received the user names and
passwords from Wauton Samuel by letter, phone or e-mail. Enter the correct user
name and password for the file you are downloading and your download will
begin.
5)
Once
your download begins you will again be prompted, this time with a File
Download box.

The default for this box is “save this program to disk”. Make sure this option is selected and then click the ok button. After you have selected the ok button it will then ask you for a location to save the file to.

When downloading this file we suggest that you download it straight the pupils folder on the computers hard drive.
6) When the file is being downloaded you will again be presented with a new window that lets you know on the status of your download. The main window shows how much of the file has been downloaded and an approximate time left till the file has finished completely downloading. It also indicates the path you specified to save the file to and the transfer rate.

7)
If
the download was successful you will get a dialogue box saying the download
completed successfully.

When this box appears you know that you
received the file and that the download has been successful. Click the close button and this will return
you to the Wauton Samuel website. You
can now close your web browser and begin the PASAPP upgrade installation.
If the download was unsuccessful you will get an error message saying that you were unable to download the selected file. If you get an error message like this please close all programs and windows, go back to step one and start the download procedure again.

If you encounter any other problems or
errors when downloading this file then please get in contact with someone at
Wauton Samuel as soon as possible so we can help you resolve the problem.
1)
Now
that you have successfully downloaded the upgrade file you can now begin the
installation procedure.
Right click the start button and left click
explore. This will load your Windows Explorer and you can search for the file
you have just downloaded.
Using the file browser find the file
Net.exe which will be located in the folder that you specified when you
downloaded the file. If you still can
not find your file, left click start and choose, find files or folders, type in
the name of the file (Net.exe) and the computer will search for the file
itself.

2)
Double
left click on the Net.exe file and the process of installation will begin. You will be first promoted with the Winzip self-extractor box.
This process will unzip the Net.exe file to
begin installation of the PASAPP upgrade file.

You will see that the self-extractor already has a default path name for a folder to be unzipped to. Check this path name to make sure it is correct and left click the unzip button.
This process will automatically unzip the
files stored within the Net.exe file.
You will see a status bar when the file is
unzipping letting you know of the progress it has made.

Once finished it will tell you
that Net.exe has been unzipped successfully. Left click the ok button and then close
the self-extractor box.

3)
Once
you have finished un-zipping the Net.exe file you can now install the upgrade.
You need to right click start again and left click explore. Locate your pupils folder as you did before.

This time you need to find another folder within the pupils folder called “PASAPP Disk Images”. Once inside this folder you will see all the files that you un-zipped. Find a file called “PASAPPSetup.mde” and double left click on this file. This will begin the PASAPP upgrade procedure.
4)
The
first message will inform you that the upgrade is going install the new version
of PASAPP, left click ok to this message.

5)
You
will then need to validate the location of your pupils
folder. This should always default to
the location of the main server, if it does not do this or you are unsure
please contact Wauton Samuel. If you are
sure this is correct then left click yes to continue
with the upgrade.

6)
Once
you have validated the location the set-up program will first of all begin to
copy PASAPP and other files into the pupils folder.

7)
You
will be informed when the files have copied successfully and then receive
another message letting you know on the next part of the upgrade. Left click the ok message to both of these
dialogue boxes. The set-up procedure
will now automatically load word and inform you that set-up is going to make
changes to the structure of the pupil data.
At this point you will need to make sure that everyone is out of Wauton
Samuel. When you are sure that no one is
using Wauton Samuel click ok to the message and the set-up program will make
changes to the pupil data. You will
again be asked to validate of your pupil data.
This path should already be correct, again if
you have doubts call Wauton Samuel and ask for some help. When you are confident that set-up is looking
at the correct path click yes to continue.
set-up will now make the necessary changes.

8)
At
the end of this process you will be issued with a message informing you that the
all changes have been made were successful.
